Healthcare System

Egypt's healthcare system is transitioning to universal health insurance under Law No. 2 of 2018. The UHIA (Universal Health Insurance Authority) is being rolled out governorate by governorate starting with Port Said (2020), followed by Luxor, Ismailia, Suez, and South Sinai. The Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP) operates a network of public hospitals and health centers. A large private sector serves those who can afford it, with growing medical tourism especially in cardiac, orthopedic, and oncology care.
