Healthcare System
Poland operates a mandatory health insurance system through the NFZ (Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia — National Health Fund). All employed and self-employed individuals pay mandatory health insurance contributions. The NFZ contracts public and some private providers. Long waiting lists drive a large private healthcare market. Poland is a member of the EU and subject to EMA centralized drug approvals.
